The Freelander 2 was fitted with 2 switches on the brake pedal (up to around 2014) one of them was this switch which goes to the brake light and another which goes to the cruise control ECU. This can be used to replace a faulty switch as shown in the below video. There are a lot of cheap aftermarket versions of this switch
